Michael Jackson's son Bigi Jackson has led a notably private life.

The late singer welcomed his third child via a surrogate on Feb. 21, 2002. At the time of his birth, Bigi was embraced by his two older siblings, Paris and Prince Jackson, from the King of Pop's brief marriage to Debbie Rowe.

Bigi was only 7 years old when his father died from acute Propofol intoxication and a subsequent cardiac arrest in June 2009, according to NPR.

"I kind of felt like no one understood what a good father he was," Paris said during a 2010 interview on Oprah alongside Bigi and Prince. "He was just a normal dad."

So, where is Bigi Jackson now? Here's everything to know about his life today, 17 years after Michael Jackson's sudden death.

After his dad died, Bigi and his siblings went to live with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson.

She was granted sole custody of them until 2012, when she left for Arizona without warning and was suspended as their guardian, per The Hollywood Reporter.

As a result of Katherine's unknown whereabouts, Tito Jackson's son, T.J. Jackson, was granted temporary guardianship over Michael's three children. Katherine was later reinstated as a co-guardian.

Katherine and T.J. shared custody until she resigned as Bigi's co-guardian in 2017, ABC News reported. Bigi was 15 years old at the time.

Bigi legally changed his name in 2015

When Bigi was born, his legal name was Prince Michael Jackson II, sharing the same moniker as his older brother.

However, Michael quickly nicknamed him "Blanket," inspired by an expression he commonly used with his family.

In 2019, Bigi and Prince launched a YouTube channel dedicated to reviewing movies. Their first video, which reviewed Avengers: Endgame, also featured their cousin, Taj Jackson, Tito's son.

That October, Prince told Entertainment Tonightthat his younger brother had "a really unique talent" for understanding movies — and that their father always encouraged that interest.

"He really thinks and studies about film in a different way that you would notice and that comes with his upbringing with my dad encouraging him to study film," Prince said. "We had a film teacher at a very young age. So it was really his idea, and he was championing behind it."

He's passionate about climate change

Though Bigi has mostly stayed away from the spotlight, he gave a rare interview to Good Morning Britain in November 2021 to discuss his passion for climate change and making an impact.

"I do think it's important we all know about it," the then-19-year-old said. "We have some work to do, but our generation knows how important it is."

Bigi continued, "That's what each of us [siblings] want to do — make things that people enjoy but also benefit their lives."

Michael's youngest child has continued to stay out of the public eye, apart from a few rare appearances honoring his father.

In April 2026, he attended the premiere of Michael — a biopic on their father's rise to fame starring their cousin, Jaafar Jackson — with Prince. The brothers both wore single-breasted suits with gold crown decals and armbands to honor one of their dad's signature looks.

Though Michael wore the armbands to symbolize helping children in need, Bigi and Prince's bands included a photo of their father's feet, positioned in one of his iconic dance moves.
