More than two decades after helping bring Aaron Sorkin's acclaimed political drama The West Wing to life, Bradley Whitford is reuniting with the writer on Broadway.
Lincoln Center Theater announced on Tuesday, June 23, that Whitford will star in a new production of Sorkin's breakthrough play A Few Good Men at the Vivian Beaumont Theater this fall.
Tom Blyth will co-star in the production, marking the The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes actor's Broadway debut.
The revival, directed by six-time Tony winner Michael Arden, will begin performances on Oct. 8 ahead of an Oct. 29 opening night and run for a limited 13-week engagement. Additional casting and creative team members for A Few Good Men will be announced at a later date.
Before creating The West Wing and writing films including The Social Network, Sorkin made his name with A Few Good Men, which premiered on Broadway in 1989.
The military courtroom drama follows lawyer Daniel Kaffee, a gifted attorney known for resolving cases before they ever reach trial. When he's assigned to defend two Marines accused of murder, he teams up with Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway to uncover the truth behind the case — a search that leads them into a far-reaching military cover-up.
At its core, the play examines what happens when loyalty to an institution collides with a commitment to the truth, as a young lawyer risks his career to challenge powerful military leaders and expose wrongdoing within the ranks.
A Few Good Men was a hit when it first opened on Broadway. The original production ran from Nov. 15, 1989 through Jan. 26, 1991, a rare long run for an original play by today's standards.

Of course, most fans probably recognize A Few Good Men from its acclaimed 1992 film adaptation starring Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson. A critical and box office success upon its release, it was nominated for four 1993 Academy Awards including Best Picture.

For the stage revival, Blyth will take on the role of Lt. j.g. Daniel A. Kaffee, the Navy lawyer portrayed by Cruise in the film adaptation, while Whitford will play the formidable Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep, the commanding officer memorably brought to the screen by Nicholson.
As audiences know, Nicholson's climactic courtroom declaration — "You can't handle the truth!" — has become one of the most famous lines in movie history, so all eyes will be on Whitford to see him recreate it.

Though the actor has big shoes to fill, he's no stranger to the stage. In fact, the 66-year-old star made his Broadway debut in the original production of A Few Good Men as a replacement cast member and understudy. He initially played Lt. Jack Ross (Kevin Bacon on screen) before taking over the lead role of Kaffee.
That was just the beginning of Whitford and Sorkin's professional collaborations.
Whitford would go on to star as Josh Lyman on The West Wing, which was created by Sorkin and ran from 1999 to 2006. The actor has since appeared in projects including Get Out, The Handmaid's Tale and The Diplomat, earning three Emmy Awards over the course of his career.

Blyth, meanwhile, broke out internationally as a young Coriolanus Snow in 2023's The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The 31-year-old English actor has also starred in MGM+'s Billy the Kid and appeared in films including Benediction, Plainclothes and People We Meet on Vacation.
After the Broadway announcement, Blyth received support from his Hunger Games costar Rachel Zegler, who commented, "welcome to the madness, diva" on social media.
Zegler won't be far from Blyth on the boards this season when her acclaimed revival of Evita transfers from London's West End to New York. The actress won widespread praise for her performance as Eva Perón in the Jamie Lloyd-directed production, which is scheduled to begin Broadway performances in February.
Tickets for A Few Good Men go on sale to the general public on July 21.
