FX’s award-winning series *The Bear** *premiered its fifth and final season on Hulu and Disney+ on Thursday. While the eight-episode storyline largely followed a single — and, in *true* Bear fashion, exceptionally chaotic — dinner service at the titular restaurant, its hour-long finale made sure to wrap up any loose ends and share a little insight on where its food family is headed.
And there were certainly some lingering questions as the show headed into its final episode. Could Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) really leave The Bear behind? Did Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and the restaurant ever get the Michelin star they set out to achieve? What’s going on with Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach)?

Does Carmy really leave The Bear?
Yes. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that the former chef is leaning into his artistic nature by taking a new job as an intern at an architecture firm. Still, a final scene showcases that while he may no longer be employed at the restaurant, it will always be a home base for him.

What happens to the restaurant?
The Bear and The Beef are evolving! Sydney is leading the restaurant as its head chef, while Ebrahim (Edwin Lee Gibson) is launching a ghost kitchen franchise with Carmy’s blessing that will continue to deliver The Beef’s signature sandwiches.
Does Sydney ever get her Michelin star?
Yes… two, in fact! Go cousins!
Does Luca also leave The Bear?
Yes, Luca is seen being dropped off at the airport by Marcus (Lionel Boyce) for Copenhagen in the final episode.
Do Sydney and Carmy end up together?
Sorry, SydCarmy fans, but (still) not romantically. Instead, the pair’s deep friendship has a shining moment in the finale when they emotionally embrace after learning that the restaurant has just earned two Michelin stars.

'The Bear' season 5.
While it can be left up to interpretation, Carmy’s ex Claire (Molly Gordon) can be seen celebrating Richie’s daughter Eva’s birthday with the rest of the food family at the restaurant in a later scene.

'The Bear' season 5.
Richie receives an opportunity in the final episode to attend an international hospitality seminar in Japan. While the prospect initially scares him, the front house manager ends up accepting and is last seen embarking on his first-ever flight.
And Richie and Chef Jess…?
Yes! The pair are together, with the final scene of the series showing her holding his hand as they prepare to fly to Japan.
