At least two people were killed overnight when Russia launched ballistic missiles at a railway in Kyiv.
Oleksandr Pertsovsky, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s national rail operator, said on Saturday that one of the company’s employees had died in the attack on the capital, and Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president, said railway infrastructure had been damaged.
Russia’s defence ministry said on Saturday that its forces had hit a railway depot.
Another man was killed and several wounded in a Russian drone strike on Zaporizhzhia, in Ukraine’s south-east, local officials said on Saturday morning.
On Friday, in the central city of Kryvyi Rih, Mr Zelensky’s home town, 16 people were killed and 130 wounded, including 23 children, when Russian drones struck a shopping centre.

Oleksandr Hanzha, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, said in the early hours of Saturday that nine people were missing after the attack.
The daytime strike on the busy shops was condemned as “cynical and despicable” by Mr Zelensky, who shared photos of the aftermath, including a row of body bags.
Footage shared on social media showed the drone soaring through the sky before hitting its target, causing smoke and flames to billow from the building.

Debris and smashed glass surrounded the nearly destroyed shopping centre as injured and bloody survivors were treated on the ground outside.
Kaja Kallas, the EU foreign policy chief, called the attack “terror by design” as she announced “the most far-reaching Russia sanctions listings since the start of the war” before a meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers in Ireland in September.

Air defence shortage
Russia has intensified its ballistic missile attacks to take advantage of Ukraine’s shortage of US-made Patriot air defence interceptors – the only weapon in its arsenal capable of shooting down such missiles.
Mr Zelensky called on his allies to supply air defences as he discussed the attack on social media, saying: “Every day that Ukraine lacks sufficient air defence means casualties that could have been prevented.
“Protecting lives requires daily decisions and effective support from the world, and right now, new supplies of ballistic missile interceptors and other missiles can help.”
The Ukrainian president said emergency and rescue operations were ongoing at the shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih and that a fire, which spread across 9,000 sq metres, had been extinguished.

He added that rescuers from seven regions with search dogs were helping to find people under the rubble.
In Russia, an industrial facility and warehouse were damaged by Ukrainian drones launched overnight.
Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, the governor of the Samara region near Kazan, said that several people had been wounded in the strikes.
He did not identify the facility, but the region has several oil refineries which have been repeatedly attacked by Ukraine.
The warehouse belonged to Ozon, Russia’s second-largest online retailer and rival to Wildberries.

The company said that work at its Samara region logistics centre in the town of Chapayevsk had been halted after the strike, which it said caused injuries.
The strike was the first on Ozon, after Kyiv spent weeks targeting Wildberries, casting the company as part of its wider campaign against the economic infrastructure underpinning Russia’s military campaign.
The strikes have unsettled the Russian public, as Kyiv shows its ability to attack the heart of the country with long-range drones.
Russia’s defence ministry said it had downed 457 Ukrainian drones overnight.
