A jury trial is currently set for June 22, according to court records
Renee Zellweger and her boyfriend Ant Anstead are currently facing ongoing litigation after a guest allegedly injured herself at the TV host's California rental property.
The Oscar winner, 56, and automotive expert, 46, were named as defendants in a civil complaint filed in the Orange County Superior Court back in February 2025, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of O.C. resident Tracey Bryn Belland, claims the couple and their landlord are responsible for her fall at the Laguna Beach residence.
According to the complaint, Belland visited the rental property on August 14, 2024, when she “tripped and fell on the patio.” She further claims “a thin rug had been placed over a hole,” which caused her to injure her right knee. Belland alleges she continues to suffer “physical, economic and emotional injuries because of the fall.”

The complaint accuses Zellweger, Anstead and the property owner, Glenn Alan Wilson, of one count of negligence.
In a response to the complaint, filed jointly on behalf of both Zellweger and Anstead in June 2025, they denied all allegations against them.
In October 2025, the property owner filed a cross complaint alleging that Anstead, the sole lease holder on the property, was required to "maintain the residence in every way relevant to this case.”
Wilson further claimed that although Zellweger was not on the lease, she “lived there much of the time.”

According to the lease attached in the suit, Anstead agreed to rent the Laguna Beach home from Jan. 1, 2024, to Jan. 1, 2025.

Wilson is accusing the cross defendants of equitable indemnity and contribution as well as one count of breach of oral contract against Zellweger and one count of breach of the implied covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing against Anstead. Wilson is seeking relief for damages in the form of ongoing attorney’s fees and legal costs.
In the couple’s joint response, filed in December, they claim Zellweger did not lease, own or maintain the property and therefore had no duty to “inspect, repair, or warn of any condition on the premises.”
They claim that Anstead, as a tenant, “acted reasonably and performed all duties required of him under the rental agreement.”
According to online court records, the case is set to go to jury trial on June 22.
