Netflix reportedly fired its head of film, Dan Lin, abruptly ending his nearly three-year tenure with the streaming giant.

Multiple sources told Variety that Lin was let go following the layoffs of more than 1,000 staffers the week prior, including the firing of chief content officer Bela Bajaria. Those close to the situation said Lin was let go over the weekend and will address his team on Monday before saying his final goodbye, according to Variety.

The executive attended Saturday's Academy Gala, and was spotted Sunday evening at a tastemaker screening for "La Bola Negra" on the Netflix campus.

Netflix has not publicly addressed the firing, and it is not yet clear who will be tapped to fill Lin's shoes, according to Variety.

It is believed that former heads of Warner Bros. Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, would be speaking with Lin about a possible role in their organization.

Netflix has been under the microscope in recent weeks after the streaming giant responded to diminishing subscribers and faced the aftermath of their defeated bid for Warner Bros.

Lin looked on as his right hand, Doug Belgrad, and fellow associate Sheroum Kim were let go leading up to his dismissal, according to Variety.

Lin founded production house Rideback, and headed the animation of the "Lego" film franchise as well as the adaptations of Stephen King's "It" and the "Sherlock Holmes" movies.

He greenlit or acquired more than 88 movies during his tenure at Netflix, including "Apex," "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," and "Here Comes the Flood."

Shortly after news of Lin's departure became public, Jeff Sneider of "The Insneider" shared a social media post suggesting Lin's departure was connected to Greta Gerwig's troubled "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew."(RELATED: Judge Reportedly Orders Former NFL Star Shawne Merriman To Pay $4 Million In Death Of Playboy Model Kimberly Fattorini)

Gerwig faced pressure after disappointing internal screenings of the $280 million fantasy production and the film's overall quality. There were rumored creative disagreements between Gerwig and Lin, prior to Lin's dismissal.
