Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly will reunite onscreen for the first time in a decade as their NCIS characters.
Harmon, 75, will reprise his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, while Weatherly, 58, will reprise his role as Anthony D. “Tony” DiNozzo Jr., the senior field agent on Gibbs’ team, in an upcoming episode of NCIS: Origins, the show teased on Instagram. The pair previously appeared on 13 seasons of NCIS together, beginning in 2003.
Harmon played Gibbs, a former U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper turned special agent who commanded a team for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). He now narrates NCIS: Origins, a story set in the early 1990s, offering a glimpse into how Gibbs came into his role in the organization. Austin Stowell plays the younger version of Harmon’s character.
After leading NCIS for 18 seasons, Harmon left the series in 2021.
“Mark’s always been part of the show, Mark’s always going to be part of the show,” former CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl told Deadline in September 2021. “In terms of his on-air appearances, we’re just going to have to see.”

Weatherly returned to NCIS after leading the one-season spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva with Cote de Pablo in 2025, and making a cameo as the character in 2024.
The actor previously told PEOPLE exclusively that many of his lines with de Pablo were improvised.

“That’s what I love so much about working with Cote,” the Bull alum said in 2025. “Because sometimes the next line that comes out of my mouth is, ‘I have no response to that,’ or, ‘I don’t know what to say.’ Then that’s not what was written, but it ends up being in the show, because that’s Tony’s response to Ziva, which is like, she has his number, and he has her number.”
The upcoming episode of NCIS: Origins airs Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, and will be streaming on Paramount+.
