Mario and Courtney Lopez are sharing their secret to keeping their marriage “hot and spicy.”
The longtime couple appeared on the October cover of Momé, a magazine focused on modern motherhood, where they opened up about how they balance their busy Hollywood life while raising their three children — all while keeping the romance alive.
“We are pretty good about carving out time just for us,” Mario, 52, and Courtney, 43, said. “You get consumed with life and the kids and work, but we carve out a lot of date nights.”
They continued, “We carve out little weekend getaways, and it makes a world of difference and keeps it hot and spicy.”

The pair — who share daughter Gia, 16, and sons Dominic, 13, and Santino, 7 — emphasized the importance of spending time together, echoing their previous comments to PEOPLE that couples should “prioritize date nights” to keep their marriage strong.
“We try to go no more than two weeks without seeing each other,” Mario told PEOPLE in January, adding that not going “to bed angry” is also important.
The On with Mario Lopez co-hosts tied the knot in 2012, four years after they met on Broadway in the revival of A Chorus Line. Now, after almost two decades together, the pair say their bond has never been stronger.

“We’ve been together 18 years, and not to be corny, but it’s better than ever,” they told Momé.
The couple added, “We couldn’t be happier.”

Another way Mario and Courtney’s nearly 14-year marriage has withstood the test of time is because they’re understanding of each other.
“I’m just really lucky, married to an incredible woman who gets me, knows me, fortunately loves me, and we laugh a lot and have a lot of fun,” Mario told PEOPLE in May. “We’re blessed with three great kids, three great dogs, so I feel really good and lucky.”
Courtney chimed in at the time, “It just gets better and better, and I’m not trying to be corny, but it does. We just love each other. We have fun. We laugh.”
