Trent Woolman, who competed on season 5 of Love Island Australia, was airlifted to a hospital in Melbourne earlier this month with severe burns after falling into a bonfire. The reality star and tower crane operator opened up about the harrowing ordeal in an interview with the Daily Mailon Monday.

Woolman has already spent two weeks in the hospital treating his injuries, which exploded in scope when doctors discovered brain bleeds and a cyst on his brain. He is currently in stable condition, and told the outlet that he has “a couple weeks to go” at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

Woolman, 28, said he was doing some yard work at his sister’s property in Inverleigh, Victoria, when he fell into a bonfire and struggled to get free. “I got stuck on the fire and got off and crawled back to the house,” he recalled, calling the experience “traumatic and the worst time of my life.”

After rendering him aid, Woolman’s sister called an ambulance, and the ambulance crew promptly called intensive care paramedics upon assessing the severity of his injuries. A helicopter was ordered, which then flew him the 50-odd miles to Melbourne.

At the hospital, doctors diagnosed third-degree burns on Woolman’s arms, mouth, and airways. Upon further investigation, his care team of doctors discovered a cyst and also bleeding in his brain, requiring emergency surgery that bumped back a skin graft for his charred arms.

The skin graft has since been completed, but Woolman remains in the hospital, awaiting further treatment.
