Donald Trump made an honest admission to Mike Tyson on stage before the boxing legend exposed a lie about the president.

Trump was joined by heavyweight boxing icon and longtime friend Tyson on stage at a MAGA rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday night, when the 80-year-old president was once again accused of lying about his height.

Campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman ahead of November’s midterm elections, Trump welcomed Tyson on stage in central New York, when viewers immediately made one observation once the two stood next to each other.

“I think we have to call him up, right?” Trump said, prompting a loud roar from the crowd at the OnCenter Convention Center in downtown Syracuse. “Mike Tyson, will you get up here, please?”

Before Tyson, 60, stepped to the microphone, he embraced Trump, whose relationship with the former world heavyweight champion spans back to the late 1980s when he advised Tyson and promoted his boxing fights in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling via Covers, Trump made an admission to Tyson when the old friends first greeted one another on stage. “I need to make a big impression today,” Trump told Tyson before he walked up to the podium.

As the two stood side by side, Trump, who is 6-foot-3 according to official White House records, appeared roughly the same height as Tyson, who stands at 5-foot-10.

It isn’t the first time the president has appeared shorter than his listed height, with another recent example coming in November 2025, when he was visibly shorter than soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo despite official records indicating Trump is one inch taller.

After Tyson and Trump’s embrace, the 60-year-old boxing legend addressed the crowd with a brief message in support of his former business adviser and friend.

"Thank you, thank you very much,” Tyson said to the crowd. “I'm just happy to be here with my president, President Trump, and there's no way in the world I would ever be here if it wasn't for a president like Donald Trump.”

It comes after Trump made a comment about fighting Tyson in a bizarre joint appearance at the White House prior to Friday night’s rally.

When asked how Republicans would fare in the midterm elections, Tyson said, “I think Donald Trump will win,” even though the president is not running in an election this fall.

After arriving back in Washington, D.C. from the rally, Tyson walked alongside Trump’s well-known aide Natalie Harp and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, when the boxing legend shut down Harp with a blunt remark, according to lip reader Hickling.

Analyzing the exchange exclusively for the Irish Star, Hickling suggested that Harp informed Tyson that they had to take a different entrance. "We gotta go round and use the other door," Harp reportedly said, before Tyson responded, "I'm busy on the phone."
