The mom of two finished out her role in Merrily We Roll Along while pregnant with her daughter Ruby
She tells PEOPLE that she received "amazing support" from everyone involved in the show
Lindsay Mendez is reflecting on the support she received while pregnant and performing in Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway.
Speaking with PEOPLE at the red carpet premiere of the filmed capture of the 2023 Stephen Sondheim revival on Monday, Dec. 1, the actress, 42, shared that she still can't believe she performed in the play while expecting her daughter Ruby, now 14 months.
"It was blind faith that I was going to be okay. It was insane, and I can't believe I got through it," Mendez said. "I had amazing support here, I will say. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I met with the producers and with my director, and they were just incredible and so accommodating, and whatever you want or need."

"And I really wanted to finish the run with the boys. And so, we just changed costumes and changed some blocking, and I ran a little slower," the mom of two said. "And we made it work, and I made it to the end of the run. I'm proud of myself for doing that and grateful that I had a really healthy baby girl at the end of it."
In September 2024, PEOPLE confirmed that Mendez had welcomed her second baby, her first with husband J. Alex Brinson. The actress welcomed daughter Ruby Beck Brinson on Thursday, Sept. 19. "We are absolutely over the moon to welcome our sweet baby girl to the world. With her, our family is complete," they told PEOPLE at the time.
"Special shout out to my unbelievable husband, J., who is, without a doubt, my hero, valiantly serving and caring for all the women in this family and taking every step in stride," added Mendez. "I love you so dearly."
Mendez is also mom to 4-year-old daughter Lucy.

In May 2024, Mendez spoke about performing on stage while pregnant, saying that she wasn't sure how she was doing it.
"I don't know, I like a challenge!" Mendez told PEOPLE, who wrapped up her role in the musical later that July when it closed. "When you're pregnant, it's like watching a pot of water boil it can take so long. Being busy actually is helpful in a way. Makes it go by!"
At the time, the star said that getting up was taking longer and longer. "I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to get up off the floor by myself," she joked. "Our run ends July 7, so I've got another [eight] weeks and I'm 20 weeks pregnant. But I'm going to try!"
"My producers have been so accommodating and wonderful," Mendez gushed. "They've changed my costumes. Whatever I need on stage, they do, and off. So it's just been little adjustments, but really it feels the same."
