Lin-Manuel Miranda is bringing some familiar faces along for his next Broadway adventure.
The Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning Hamilton creator and his Warriors collaborator Eisa Davis have announced the initial cast for their highly anticipated new musical, which will begin performances at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 9, 2027, ahead of an official opening on April 8.
Leading the company will be Jasmine Cephas Jones, Amber Gray, Sasha Hutchings, Aneesa Folds, Julia Harriman, Gizel Jiménez, Kenita R. Miller, Jaci Calderon, Sasha Allen, Casey Likes and Donald Webber Jr.
The company is filled with Broadway veterans, several of whom have previously worked with Miranda on his groundbreaking musical Hamilton.
Hutchings and Cephas Jones are members of the show’s original company, the latter originating the dual roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds. Harriman, meanwhile, played Eliza Hamilton on the musical’s national tours and appeared opposite Miranda during its Puerto Rico engagement. Webber also performed alongside Miranda in Puerto Rico as Aaron Burr, and has since taken on the role on Broadway.
It’s not just Hamilton. Folds previously worked with Miranda on Freestyle Love Supreme, the improvisational hip-hop comedy group he co-founded that went on to perform on Broadway. And Calderon is set to play Nina later this month in New York City Center’s production of In the Heights.

But the Warriors cast isn’t just a reunion of Miranda’s past collaborators. Several performers are also returning to roles they originated on the musical’s 2024 concept album and in various workshops.
Cephas Jones will reprise her role as Swan, with Gray as Ajax, Hutchings as Cowgirl, Folds as Cleon, Jiménez as Rembrandt and Miller as Cochise. Harriman will once again play Mercy.
Among the notable changes is Calderon, who will take on the role of Fox, originally voiced by Hamilton star Phillipa Soo on the album. Allen — a standout in the 2009 revival of Hair who went on to become a semifinalist on The Voice — will play Cyrus, the powerful gang leader voiced by Lauryn Hill on the recording.
Webber joins the production as Masai, the character Colman Domingo previously voiced. Likes, who played Jesse on the album, will now portray Luther.

Based on Walter Hill’s cult classic 1979 film The Warriors and Sol Yurick’s novel of the same name, the musical follows a fictional New York City gang from Coney Island who are framed for the murder of Cyrus during a summit in the Bronx. Forced to fight their way back across the city, the Warriors must navigate rival gangs and dangerous territory as they attempt to clear their names and preserve their fallen leader’s vision of peace.
Published in 1965, Yurick’s novel drew inspiration from the ancient Greek account Anabasis, reimagining its story of soldiers fighting their way home through the world of New York City’s street gangs. Hill brought the story to the big screen 14 years later, with a cast that included Michael Beck, James Remar, Deborah Van Valkenburgh and David Patrick Kelly.
Miranda and Davis first introduced their reimagining of the story with a concept album released in October 2024. The recording featured an eclectic lineup of Broadway performers and music superstars, including Hill, Domingo, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Marc Anthony, Billy Porter, Ghostface Killah and RZA.
The album, executive produced by Nas and produced by Mike Elizondo, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Compilation Albums chart, amassing 5.5 million global streams in its first week.

Now, the collaborators are bringing that music to life on Broadway with a score that draws from the many musical traditions of New York City.
“We’re having the time of our lives making Warriors. It’s a rollercoaster like the Coney Island Cyclone, with all the action of Walter Hill’s classic film,” Miranda and Davis say in a joint statement.
“It’s a New York story to the bone, with music steeped in all the genres that were born and revolutionized here, from hip-hop to salsa to ska and metal and everything in between,” they continue. “It’s an edge-of-your-seat journey from Brooklyn to the Bronx and back again. It’s a dream of a more peaceful city where we all come home alive. This is the sound of something being born.”
The production will be directed by Jenny Koons, with Hamilton’s Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler serving as co-director and choreographer. Blankenbuehler previously collaborated with Miranda on In the Heights and Hamilton, winning Tony Awards for both productions.
