The relationship between Katy Perry and her boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, is reportedly going strong despite being long-distance. A source recently mentioned that the couple had always been aware of each other’s priorities. They allegedly knew their dating journey would be “complicated” and “not so easy.” Both have their respective children and careers to take care of.

For those unversed, the pair was first spotted together last year in Montreal. They confirmed their romance publicly on Instagram in December.

Long distance has reportedly not affected Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s relationship. A source told PEOPLE that the couple always understood the nature of their relationship. “[They] understood from the beginning that their lives were complicated and that it wouldn’t be the easiest relationship logistically,” they added.

Despite that, the former Canadian Prime Minister and the singer have been “determined” to make things work. They reportedly would like to go with the flow and see “where things could go.”

Furthermore, the insider pointed to the pair’s respective responsibilities towards their career and families. As they work in different fields, they allegedly knew that they would have to be in a long-distance relationship.

Moreover, they have children they share with their exes, respectively. Perry has a daughter, Daisy Dove, with her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom. Trudeau is the father of sons Xavier and Hadrien, and daughter Ella-Grace. He shares the kids with her estranged wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

According to the insider, Perry has to travel the world for album tours. So, the politician allegedly made an effort to visit his girlfriend whenever he could. Reportedly, she was drawn to him because he was “really interested” in her. “They’ve already had to navigate a lot of logistics. The fact that they’ve been willing to do that says a lot about how serious they are about each other,” the source added.
