The musicians announced their engagement through an Instagram post on Saturday, Jan. 3.
"My favourite part of being alive 💍 happy new year," Cameron, 29, captioned a series of photos of herself and the Måneskin frontman, 26, posing at a party, as the Descendants alum showed off her engagement ring.

The couple's announcement comes after they first sparked engagement rumors in October, when they were photographed in Sydney, Australia, in matching black outfits, with Cameron wearing a sparkler on her ring finger.
Representatives for Cameron and David did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment at the time.
Cameron marked her dating anniversary with David in October, sharing a carousel of photos on Instagram.
"The best two years of my life," the star wrote in her caption. "I am brought to tears at least once a week because life has become so beautiful with you in i. i love you in a way no words could ever express, but i will never stop trying. buon anniversario amore mio."

Cameron and David were first linked in September 2023, when the Disney Channel alum was seen in attendance at one of the musician's performances. The couple officially made their red carpet debut in February 2024 at Clive Davis' annual Pre-Grammy Gala.
During a conversation with PEOPLE in February, Cameron explained why she decided to go public with her relationship.
"We had a conversation early on, because it's a weird thing that you have to talk about," she said of the decision at the time. "He was like, 'If someone in high school, or who's a lawyer, nurse or working at a coffee shop can post a picture of their partner and share the normal, beautiful parts of their lives, why should it be different for us?' "

Cameron further noted that she has consistently felt "so much anxiety" throughout her life with regard to the notion of opening her relationships up to the public eye."I've been public in the past," she said, adding, "and I've had some not-so-public relationships that I was a little bit less inclined to share. Not because of the people I was seeing, but because it just felt like a scary thing to be really open about. It's like I got scared."
For his part, David has gushed about the peace that his relationship with Cameron brings him, telling PEOPLE, “I’m so in love. We play each other’s music, and I would say that we are very lucky because she loves music and I love her music. I really vibe with it. So it’s very fun.”
