'Tangled' came out in 2010

"I always wanted to act and perform," he told PEOPLE in 2024. "I always had a little voice in my head that said, 'You can do this. You're good at it,' and I find that with each project, I have a better understanding of myself. If I hadn't booked Zombies, I don't know if I would be here, but I'm so happy that I found this love and this passion."

The original Tangled was the story of Rapunzel, a teenage girl with 70 feet of magical hair and a desire to leave the tower that she had been locked away in for years, who encounters handsome thief Flynn hiding out there. They make a deal to leave and have quite the adventure.

Mandy Moore, of This Is Us, voiced Rapunzel. Her Flynn was played by Chuck alum Zachary Levi. The supporting cast included Ron Perlman, Brad Garrett, Paul F. Tompkins, and Donna Murphy. The film was a hit, earning more than $591 million worldwide, spawning a TV series, and getting nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category, for Alan Menken and Glenn Slater's tune "I See the Light."

EW reported in April that the movie would be helmed by Michael Gracey, the director of The Greatest Showman, while Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wroteThor: Love and Thunder, would pen the screenplay.

At the time, it was unclear whether the movie would ever be made at all. Work on it had been paused, EW confirmed, following the underwhelming performance of the live-action Snow White in its first two weeks at the box office.
