The boys are officially back. Not only is BTS returning with their highly anticipated fifth studio album, ARIRANG (set to be released on March 20), but they’re also coming to Netflix with a brand new concert film and accompanying documentary.

In case you need a refresher on where they’ve been all these years, the K-pop boy band (consisting of members Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook, RM, Suga, and J-Hope) had to complete mandatory South Korean military service, and they’ve been on a break since 2022. Although individual members have stayed active by releasing solo projects, they’re now finally back together as a group—and returning with a bang.

Here’s everything we know so far about their upcoming concert film and documentary.

When is the concert film coming out?

BTS’s new concert film, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG will premiere one day after the album is released, on March 21, at 7 A.M. EST on Netflix. The live performance will be broadcast from Gwanghwamun in Seoul.

And if you happen to be in the area and are interested in seeing the concert in-person, Netflix will keep us for more information about how to secure tickets, so watch this space.

Wait—there’s a documentary, too?

There sure is! A week after the live performance airs, BTS will release a documentary on Netflix, BTS: The Return, on March 27. Directed by Bao Nguyen (The Greatest Night in Pop), the feature-length film will follow the making of their new album ARIRANG and offer a behind-the-scenes look at their long-awaited comeback.

Has the trailer been released yet?

Yes—Netflix debuted the official trailer for the concert film on March 4. The preview offers an early glimpse of the group preparing for their return to the stage following their hiatus.

Netflix also released a new trailer for BTS: The Return on March 16, offering a more intimate look at the group’s reunion. In the footage, the members reflect on stepping back into the spotlight after years apart, acknowledging both the pressure and the uncertainty of returning to a fast-moving industry. “Trends shift every season. Standing still isn’t an option,” RM says. “And we’re trying to find out what makes us BTS.”

The teaser follows the group across recording sessions, travel, and rehearsals, capturing the emotional weight of their comeback along with their excitement to perform together again. “We are finally back where we’re meant to be,” Jimin adds.
