Oscar-winning star Hathaway — who returned for the highly anticipated sequel in the role of journalist Andy Sachs alongside Streep as ruthless *Runway* magazine editor Miranda Priestly — told *Good Morning America *that the production sought to be more size inclusive in its vision of the fashion world.

*GMA* host Lara Spencer asked Hathaway during a Monday morning interview about the decision to cast a wider range of models in the film, with the actress noting that "it was just kind of this quick thing that happened on set" that has "become a much bigger story" after Streep revealed in March that Hathaway asked producers to cast models who weren't of a "skeletal" frame.

"Actually, I do want to mention, there's a little misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity," Hathaway added in her *GMA* interview. "That just didn't happen, nobody lost their jobs. In fact, it created more jobs."

Hathaway said that the move "was about making sure that so many different body types saw themselves in a moment in the script." To avoid spoiling a key plot point on the air, she refrained from revealing too much more about it.

"It's so hard because I can't say what the scene is about, but there's a song that [Lady] Gaga wrote and it's a beautiful, amazing song. Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?" Hathaway said.

In March, Streep told *Harper's Bazaar* that the cast attended actual fashion shows in Milan for the sequel, which lands in theaters 20 years after the release of the 2006 original. The three-time Academy Award winner said she was struck by the beauty and youth of the runway models ("everyone seems young to me," she added as an aside), but also by how "alarmingly thin" they were.

Hathaway noticed too, Streep said, "and she made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She's a stand-up girl.”

Someone you won't see in *The Devil Wears Prada 2*: Sydney Sweeney. EW exclusively reported last week that the *Euphoria* actress didn't make the final cut, despite filming a three-minute cameo in which she would've appeared as herself.

EW also previously reported that Adrian Grenier, who played Andy's love interest in the first film, would not return for the sequel. Director David Frankel later told EW that he had an idea for a Grenier cameo, but "it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen."

*The Devil Wears Prada 2* — also starring returning *Devil Wears Prada *cast members Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt — is in theaters Friday.
