Amy Adams Recalls Saving Man Who Had Been 'Stabbed in the Neck' Using Tips from Medical Drama Role

During the most recent episode of SmartLess, Amy Adams recalled helping a stabbing victim after she and her family were first on the scene outside a Santa Monica restaurant
Amy noted that she used her knowledge of first aid from filming medical drama Dr. Vegas to help stem the victim's bleeding
The victim reunited with Amy a year after the incident and became emotional during their meeting

On the Monday, June 21 episode of SmartLess, the podcast presented by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Amy recalled a scary incident that saw her helping a stabbing victim in Los Angeles.
The Arrivalstar, 51, recalled that she, her father, Richard Adams, her husband, Darren Le Gallo and their daughter, Aviana, were the “first people on the scene” of a stabbing after coming out of their “favorite” Santa Monica restaurant.
“These people were screaming and a guy was walking and they were yelling, ‘He’s dying!’ And my husband’s like, ‘That’s blood!’” Amy told the hosts.

Noting that the man had been “stabbed in the neck,” Le Gallo remained with their daughter while Amy and her father Richard rushed to his aid.
“He was bleeding and his friends were freaking out,” she said, adding that they were able to use the beach towels they had with them to apply pressure and stem the bleeding, addind that she felt very “focused” in the moment.
The Enchanted star recalls telling the man to calm down and stay still, “The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay down,” she remembers telling him, noting that her stint in 2004 medical TV series Dr. Vegas gave her some basic knowledge of first aid.

Coincidentally, the American Hustle star ran into the stabbing victim a year later while eating in a restaurant.
“A guy walks up to me…He’s like, ‘I heard a story that you and your dad were on the scene of a guy getting stabbed,'” she said

“And I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s you.’ And it was him.”
Calling the reunion “crazy,” Amy noted that the man was “teary” during the emotional moment.

Elsewhere, the actress has recently opened up about finding her 50s “freeing,” noting that she’s “more relaxed than I’ve ever been.”
“I feel more centered than I ever have,” Amy said in an S Magazine interview published May 19. “I think part of that is just being able to look back and be really grateful for what I’ve been able to do. And then look forward with a lot of excitement for what’s to come.”
Just after her 50th birthday in August 2024, the two-time Golden Globe winner told PEOPLE that she feels “onderful” about the new decade.
"I feel wonderful at 50," she said during the premiere of her film Nightbitch at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I know everyone's like, 'Oh, it's 50.' And I'm like, I feel great. I feel very grateful, just very centered and happy to be here. Really grateful."

Amy married Le Gallo in 2015 following a seven-year-long engagement. They first met in 2001 when they were enrolled in the same acting class, and share 16-year-old Aviana Olea Le Gallo.
